'The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is happy to be back with an additional episode of \"K-Food Series.\" Hottoek is one of the most popular winter street snacks, which has been loved by locals for decades. The exact origin of hotteok is unknown, but it is generally said that it was brought into Korea by Chinese merchants in the early 1920s, and has transformed into the current hotteok. Hotteok is a flour pancake filled with cinnamon-scented brown sugar. Its dough is made of sticky rice or flour. While cinnamon-scented brown sugar is the most common filler, it can also be replaced with other options, such as seasoned vegetables, chopped nuts, pizza paste, japchae, meat, etc. Source: The Korea Herald'
