The exact origin of hotteok is unknown, but it is generally said that it was brought into Korea by Chinese merchants in the early 1920s, and has transformed into the current hotteok. Hotteok is a flour pancake filled with cinnamon-scented brown sugar. Its dough is made of sticky rice or flour.
