But did you know that those instant oatmeal packets are really processed? What they do is that they pre-cook them and then they dehydrate them, add a ton of sugar, and then bag \'em. Who want\'s that? Today I\'m going to show you your own instant oatmeal that you can make in under 5 minutes, that\'s good for you! Let\'s get started. You\'re going to need: - 1/4 steel oats - 1/4 cup of quick oats - 1 tsp of cinnamon - 3 tsp of honey - 1 cup of water - 1/2 cup of milk - 2 tbsp of slivered almonds - 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries (or you can use any kind of frozen fruit that you\'d like: raspberries, strawberries, mixed berries, up to you) Steel-cut oats usually take about 10-15 minutes to cook. But here\'s my trick to cut the cooking time down. Simply take your coffee grinder, add your steel-cut oats, and then grind them down until they\'re almost like a course coffee ground. You want it kind of powder-y like this so that it absorbs the water quickly, and then cooks fast. this will also help it yield that creamy porridge-y texture that steel-cut oats has. I love it. Take your water, pour it in a pot, and put it on the stove on medium heat. As the water starts to steam, add in the steel oats and quick oats. You don\'t want the water to reach boiling point because, once it gets to that point, it\'s going to create clumpiness when you add in the oatmeal and you don\'t want that. Then give it a quick stir to make sure there\'s no clumping. Now add in your cinnamon, honey, and milk, and give it another stir. Steel-cut oats are minimally processed and I love the chewy texture that it has. After about a minute, when your oatmeal starts to thicken, add in your slivered almonds and your blueberries and give it a quick stir, and then you\'re done. This will make about two portions so make enough for yourself and share it with a friend or coworker. If you don\'t have time to make this in the stove in the morning you can always pre-mix it and then pack everything the night before, add in all your toppings, and then nuke (microwave) it for about two minutes. This will keep you really full and you know that it\'s healthy for you. So enjoy it and start your day with a hearty breakfast because it\'s the most important meal of the day. Thanks for watching and I\'ll see you guys next time. Bye! © 2014 Honeysuckle Catering. All Rights Reserved. http://youtu.be/GQLxIXJXxWE Making things Fun, Pretty, and Delicious!
