'EATING A COCONUT TREE? Yes, literally the tree! This is FILIPINO SURVIVAL FOOD! This definitely looks like a strange snack in the Philippines. But trust me, it is really satisfying! If you didn’t know, ubud is young meat found within the trunk of a coconut tree. Mike had to remove one of his dwarf coconuts today, which meant an overload of this local snack!! I felt like I am eating strange space rocks... or even bones?! My favourite part is peeling the strips! In Canada we used to have “fruit roll ups”, candy rolls we would peel and eat. But this!! This is the real deal! And healthy! Not sweet (maybe a hint), but strangely satisfying. What a cool experience! Have you had fresh ubud before?! I have heard stories that historically... this was a local survival food!
