'31 Jan 2021) Members of the WHO mission team investigating the origins of the coronavirus pandemic on Sunday visited the Baishazhou market in Wuhan. The market was known to be the distribution centre for food to the entire city during the 76-day lockdown last year. The team was seen leaving the market after about an hour and a half. WHO members, with expertise in veterinarian, virology, food safety and epidemiology, have visited two hospitals that were centres of the early outbreak: Jinyintan Hospital and the Hubei Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital. They have also visited a museum exhibition dedicated to the early history of COVID-19. WHO, which is based in Geneva, Switzerland, said that its team plans to visit hospitals, markets like the Huanan Seafood Market linked to many of the first cases, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and laboratories at facilities like the Wuhan Center for Disease Control.
