'Let\'s get ready for Soul Food Sunday! I have put together a meal of smothered turkey wings, no roux mac n cheese, baked candied yams, and cornbread chicken n dressing. I also have tips for you on how to prepare this meal so you can save time in the kitchen. Please read below. Tips: 1. The night before prepare the cornbread for the cornbread dressing. Also, boil the chicken and make the broth. You can prepare the cornbread dressing the night before and out it in a foil pan in the fridge. The next day transfer it straight to the oven. You will need to add an additional 5 minutes of cooking so the food can warm up. At the very least, make the cornbread and the chicken stock the night before, then do the rest the next day. 2. The first thing in the oven should be the turkey wings as they take the longest to cook. 3. The last thing you should make is the veggies. I like to wash and cut mine the night before to save time the next day or buy precut. To store in the overnight, put paper towels at the bottom of your tupperware. They will absorb extra moisture from the veggies so they stay fresh. 4. The yams and the mac can cook at the same time. Put the yams (covered) and the bottom rack, and the mac on the top so it can get the color. Start the yams in the oven first b/c they cook longer overall. 5. If your oven is large enough, you could do the turkey, yams, and mac at the same time. Start the turkey first. 45 minutes into the turkey cooking, put the yams in the oven. Last 25 minutes of the turkey and yams cooking add in the mac. This way the food will be ready at roughly the same time. Use oven temp of 400 degrees F. Hey ya\'ll!
